Alas?

[edit]

I am only here on occasion, resolved to stay away from any possible involvement with wiki-politics. The fact that I have become involved with a small writing community and the wiki dedicated thereto is providing me with much excuse to keep my resolution. I am almost constantly available via various IM protocols, however, so give us a shout sometime. HTH HAND —Phil | Talk 20:47, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cleaning your sandbox

[edit]

Hi. :) I've taken the liberty of blanking your sandbox 2, User:Bookofjude/sandbox 2, since DumbBot has decided to take you at your word and list it at Wikipedia:Copyright problems. Since you have not edited that sandbox since July of 2006, I'm hoping this won't inconvenience you. :) I would have asked you if you minded doing so yourself, but you haven't edited here in some months either. Please forgive me if this blanking is unwelcome. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 17:00, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:DoctorWatsonDebugger.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:DoctorWatsonDebugger.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk 03:46, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Michael Moorcock Breakfast in the Ruins 2.png

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Michael Moorcock Breakfast in the Ruins 2.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Courcelles 03:55, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Suspension of admin privileges due to inactivity

[edit]

Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative privileges of users who have been inactive for one year, meaning administrators who have made neither any edits nor any logged actions in over one year. As a result of this discussion, your administrative privileges have been removed pending your return. If you wish to have these privileges reinstated, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e., as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised and that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions). This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Michael Moorcock The Winds of Limbo.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Michael Moorcock The Winds of Limbo.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. –Drilnoth (T/C) 00:06, 15 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of change

[edit]

Hello. You are receiving this message because of a recent change to the administrator policy that alters what you were told at the time of your desysopping. The effect of the change is that if you are inactive for a continuous three year period, you will be unable to request return of the administrative user right. This includes inactive time prior to your desysopping if you were desysopped for inactivity and inactive time prior to the change in policy. Inactivity is defined as the absence of edits or logged actions. Until such time as you have been inactive for three years, you may request return of the tools at the bureaucrats' noticeboard. After you have been inactive for three years, you may seek return of the tools only through WP:RFA. Thank you. MBisanz talk 00:20, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Usurpation request

[edit]

Hi. Michael. Since you have not edited for nearly 11 years, I am expecting that you will not see, let alone respond to, this message, but I am posting it anyway to make sure. A while ago I posted a request to User talk:Michael Davis to usurp your doppelganger user name. Since you have never edited from that account, and have not edited at all for over a decade, I can't conceive of any reasonable reason why you should object to that user name being taken over by another editor named Michael Davis, but if you do object please say so. Thanks. JBW (talk) 20:39, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
